HOW IT HAPPENED
- Plattsburgh opened the scoring at 12:35. Freshman forward Kayson Ruegge (Edmond, Okla./Philadelphia Jr. Flyers) found freshman forward Tessa Morris (Grand Island, N.Y./Rome Girl's Hockey) in the slot. Morris then ripped the puck into the right side of the net.
- The Cardinals made it 2-0 at 18:06 as senior forward Bridget Orr (Excelsior, Minn./North American Hockey Academy) finished a pass from junior forward Molly Riggi (Farmingdale, N.J./New Jersey Titans) at the left side of the net. Graduate student forward Mae Olshansky (Las Vegas, Nev./North American Hockey Academy) had the second assist.
- The Bears got on the board at 14:32 as junior defenseman Victoria Proulx (Rockland, Ontario/Post University) hit sophomore forward Jalynn Castro (Dexter, N.Y./Syracuse Valley Eagles) with a long cross-ice pass. Castro then beat Cardinals sophomore goalie Chloe Lewis (Monson, Mass./Northwood School) glove-side. Senior captain Sara Barrett (Tonawanda, N.Y./Niagara Jr. Purple Eagles) picked up the second assist.
- Plattsburgh got an insurance marker at 7:40 of the third period. Graduate student forward Ciara Wall (Somerville, Mass./University of New Hamsphire) jammed home the rebound off a shot from sophomore forward Sydnee Francis (Canton, N.Y./Nepean Jr. Wildcats).
- The Bears pulled senior goalie Hannah Barrett (Tonawanda, N.Y./Niagara Jr. Eagles) for an extra attacker with 40 seconds left but couldn't close the gap.
