BOSTON, MASS.—The SUNY Potsdam men's volleyball team (7-7) held on to defeat Emerson College (5-10) 3-2 on Friday evening.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Bears raced out to a 13-4 lead in set one before grabbing a 25-16 win.
• Another fast start in set two lifted Potsdam to a 25-18 win.
• The Lions jumped on the Bears early and rolled to a 25-15 victory to stay alive in set three.
• The teams traded leads in set four, but Emerson held on for a 27-25 win to even the match.
• Potsdam used a 6-2 start in set five and a 9-4 finish to claim the match with a 15-9 edge in set five.

 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS

• Senior middle hitter Matt Kilinski (Greenfield Center, N.Y./Saratoga Springs) led the Bears with 16 kills, 10 digs and three blocks.
• Junior outside hitter Duncan Tenhagen (Buffalo, N.Y./West Seneca West) had eight kills, seven digs and two blocks.
• Freshman right side Charlie Cherchio (Oswego, N.Y./Oswego) contributed five kills and three aces.
• Sophomore setter Alex Lombardo (East Hampton, N.Y./East Hampton) recorded 35 kills.
• Freshman middle hitter Christopher Wong (Elmont, N.Y./Elmont) chipped in four blocks and sophomore outside hitter Calum Anderson (East Hampton, N.Y./East Hampton) added in seven digs.
