POTSDAM, N.Y.—Four SUNY Potsdam men's volleyball players have earned spots on the 2025 New England Volleyball Conference Academic All-Conference Team. Junior
Mike Kilinski (Greenfield Center, N.Y./Saratoga Springs) and sophomores
Alex Lombardo (East Hampton, N.Y./East Hampton),
Jack Orrange (North Tonawanda, N.Y./North Tonawanda) and
Benson Jovel-Truong (Latham, N.Y./Shaker) represent the Bears. To be eligible for the honor, student-athletes must have at least a cumulative 3.4 grade-point-average and be a sophomore or higher in class standing.
Kilinski, a middle hitter, led the NEVC with a Bears single-season record .380 hitting percentage in his first season in Potsdam. He was third on the team in kills (134), second in blocks (48) and contributed 41 digs and 12 service aces. He played in 22 of the Bears' matches with 21 starts.
Lombardo, a setter, was third in the conference with 697 assists this season. He was also third on the team 110 digs. Lombardo also had 22 blocks and 13 aces while starting 23 of his 25 contests. He is second in program history with 1,036 assists. Lombardo also established the program's single-match record of 61 assists in a 3-2 win against SUNY Poly on March 22. He claimed NEVC Player of the Week honors on March 4.
Orrange, a middle hitter and libero, totaled 99 digs, 10 kills, nine assists, three blocks and two service aces in 25 matches. In his two seasons with the Bears, he has 127 digs, 23 kills, 18 assists and 11 service aces. Orrange was named to the All-NEVC Sportsmanship Team in April and earned a spot on the College Sports Communicators At-Large Academic All-District Team yesterday.
Jovel-Truong, a middle hitter and opposite, saw action in 16 matches this season, while starting five. He registered 34 kills, 43 digs, 15 assists, nine blocks and seven aces.
The 2025 season was the Bears' most successful in program history. They set the program record for overall (18) and conference wins (5). Potsdam won a record 12 matches in a row.
Matt Kilinski was named NEVC Athlete of the Year and sixth-year head coach
Josh Stokes earned conference coach of the year honors. Junior outside hitter
Duncan Tenhagen (Buffalo, N.Y./West Seneca West) earned his second straight second team selection. Potsdam reached the postseason for the fourth consecutive year and claimed a spot in the semifinals for the second time.
