Bears, Saints battle to scoreless draw in season opener

POTSDAM, N.Y.—The SUNY Potsdam women's soccer team (0-0-1) and St. Lawrence University (0-0) fought to a scoreless draw on Friday evening in the teams' season opener.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Bears defense limited SLU to just two shots on goal in the first half and junior goalkeeper Megan Fry (Webster, N.Y./Webster Schroeder) handled both attempts.
  • It was more of the same in the second half, including a huge stop by Fry with just over three minutes remaining.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • SLU outshot Potsdam 15-1 and had a 7-3 advantage in corner kicks.
  • Fry finished with five saves for her second career shutout.
  • Saints junior goalie Zoe Davenport (Worcester, Mass./Notre Dame Academy) made one stop.
  • The Bears are 1-1-1 in their last three meetings with the Saints.
