Bears blank Clarkson, 2-0

POTSDAM, N.Y.—The SUNY Potsdam women's soccer team (3-1-1) scored a goal in each half to defeat Clarkson University (2-1-2) 2-0 on Thursday evening. The win ends a five-game losing streak to the Golden Knights.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Junior forward Adrianna Orlando (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) started a got the Bears on the board at 22:03 of the first half. She finished a perfect pass from senior forward Madison Wagner (Chittenango, N.Y./Chittenango).
  • The Golden Knights outshot Potsdam 9-6 in the first half, but three saves from Bears junior goalie Megan Fry (Webster, N.Y./Webster Schroeder) kept the hosts in front.
  • Potsdam doubled its lead at 56:58 as senior captain Emily Jordan (Lisbon, N.Y./Lisbon) finished a feed from senior defender Emma Wilson (Nesconset, N.Y./Sachem North).
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Clarkson outshot Potsdam 15-8 and built an 8-1 advantage in corners.
  • Fry stopped four shots for her third career victory and fourth shutout.
  • Sophomore goalie Isabelle Wood (Winfield, Pa./Lewisburg) stopped two shots for the Golden Knights.
  • The win was the first for the Bears in the series since 2018. Potsdam is 9-25-4 all-time against Clarkson.
