Bears edge Hawks on the road, 1-0

ONEONTA, N.Y.—The SUNY Potsdam women's soccer (4-1-1) scored in the first half and made it stand up in a 1-0 win at Hartwick College (2-1-3) on Wednesday evening.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Junior midfielder Samantha Parsons (Williamsville, N.Y./Williamsville South) opened the scoring at 32:23 with her first goal of the season. Junior forward Adrianna Orlando (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) assisted on the marker.
  • The Bears led 1-0 at the half with the shots even at 4-4. Junior goalkeeper Megan Fry (Webster, N.Y./Webster Schroeder) had three saves in the first 45 minutes.
  •  The Hawks controlled the second half, but five more saves from Fry clinched the victory.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Hartwick outshot Potsdam 16-5 and had 6-5 advantage in corners.
  • Fry finished with eight saves for her fifth shutout of the season and fourth win.
  • The meeting was the first ever between the two teams.
  • The Bears are off to their best start since 2021 (4-1)
