PLATTSBURGH, N.Y.—Plattsburgh State (7-8, 1-0 SUNYAC) defeated the SUNY Potsdam women's volleyball team (7-6, 0-1) 3-0 on Tuesday night in the teams' SUNYAC opener.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Cardinals started set one up 9-4 and rolled to a 25-14 victory. Freshman outside hitter Ashlee Hagerman (Kirkwood, N.Y./Windsor) had three kills and junior middle hitter Noelle Redeye (Cattaraugus, N.Y./Silver Creek), junior outside hitter Emily Prest (Averill Park, N.Y./Averill Park) and senior captain Sophia Layer (Potsdam, N.Y./Potsdam) had two kills each.
• Plattsburgh opened up a big lead in set two as well. The Bears narrowed the gap before falling 25-16. Hagerman added three more kills and Prest added two.
• The Bears got within 23-22 in set three before falling 25-22 to the Cardinals, who completed the sweep. Hagerman had six kills and Prest added three.

 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS

• Hagerman finished with 12 kills and an ace. Prest had eight kills and seven digs.
• Layer registered 21 assists, seven digs, four kills and a block.
• Junior setter Rachel Madore (Peru, N.Y./Peru) posted a match-best 13 digs.
• Redeye and freshman middle hitter Logan Georgia (Owego, N.Y./Owego) each had two blocks.
