HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Bears took the lead just 1:01 into the contest. Senior captain Mason Hoehn (Highlands Ranch, Colo./Richmond Generals) banked the puck off the skate of Kangaroos junior goalie Trey Miller (Columbus, Ohio/Twin City Thunder) and in to make it 1-0. Senior defenseman Scott Cremen (Arnold, Md./Team Maryland) and freshman forward Spencer Sasenbury (Fayetteville, N.Y./Watertown Shamrocks) picked up the assists.
  • The Roos grabbed the lead with another power-play goal at 1:28 of the second period. Senior forward Evan Pringle (Aurora, Ontario/Oakville Blades) scored with an assist from Cremen.
  • Pringle struck again at 3:06 with helpers from freshman forward Colton Alexander (Cochrane, Alberta/Neepawa Titans) and junior forward Niko Schoner (Bloomingdale, N.Y./Nashville Spartans).
  • Senior forward Ryan Mahlmeister (Massapequa, N.Y./PAL Junior Islanders) got Potsdam back within 3-2 at 5:48 of the second with assists from Watson and junior assistant captain Eli Doughart-Wood (St. Louis, Mo./Navan Grads).
  • At 12:33, sophomore forward Andrew Blanchard (Saratoga Springs, N.Y./Pennsylvania Huntsmen) knocked home a rebound off a shot from sophomore forward Garrett McCabe (London, Ontario/Brantford 99ers) to tie the game. Junior forward Will O'Brien (Jefferson Hills, Pa./HC Rhode Island) had the other assist.
  • The shots were 15-15 in the third period, but Bears junior goalie Lenny Perno (Rochester, N.Y./Richmond Generals) and Miller didn't allow another goal.
