Bears blanked at No. 1 Hobart

GENEVA, N.Y.—No.1 Hobart College (20-0, 13-0 SUNYAC) defeated the SUNY Potsdam men's hockey team (7-11, 4-7-1) 7-0 on Saturday afternoon.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Statesmen scored three times in the first period. Arvega Hovsepyan and Tanner Daniels each scored and Ryan Remick netted the final two goals of the first.
  • Hobart struck for three more in the second period. Daniels added his second, Tristan Fasig got the Statesmen's sixth and Dominic Schimizzi scored a power play goal with just under four minutes to go.
  • There was no scoring in the third period.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • Hobart outshot Potsdam 63-17.
  • The Statesmen were 1-for-4 on the power play and the Bears went 0-for-3.
  • Junior goalie Lenny Perno (Rochester, N.Y./Richmond Generals) allowed four goals and made 25 saves in the first period. Sophomore Luciano Chinappi (Hilton, N.Y./Boston Jr. Rangers) allowed three goals and stopped 31 shots in the final 40 minutes.
  • Hobart goalie Maverick Goyer made 17 saves for the shutout.
