Lakers overpower Bears

OSWEGO, N.Y.—Oswego State (9-2, 3-1 SUNYAC) started quickly and never let up in a 91-58 victory over the SUNY Potsdam men's basketball team (1-9, 1-2) on Friday evening.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Senior guard Jaylen Singh (Murfreesboro, Tenn./Rockvale) opened the contest with a 3-pointer, but the Lakers answered with a 20-5 run over the next seven minutes.
  • Sophomore guard Mike Hancock (Bayville, N.Y./Locust Valley) hit a three at 7:45 to make it a 28-14 contest.
  • Oswego led 49-27 at the half.
  • Sophomore guard Bryson Brown (New York, N.Y./Mercersburg Academy) scored 10 points for Potsdam in the second half, including six points on threes.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
  • The Lakers shot 49.3-percent from the floor and Potsdam hit 34.4-percent of its shots.
  • Oswego outrebounded the Bears 45-34.
  • Hancock finished with 10 points, matching Brown for the team lead.
  • Junior captain Matthew Syzmanski (New York, N.Y./Brooklyn Tech) had eight points.
