POTSDAM, N.Y.—SUNY New Paltz (7-3, 3-0 SUNYAC) defeated the SUNY Potsdam women's lacrosse team (2-7, 0-3) 18-5 on Tuesday evening. Senior captain
Megan MacWilliams (Parishville, N.Y./Parishville-Hopkinton) led the Bears with two goals and an assist.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Hawks scored the first two goals of the game before sophomore attack Ava Murphy (Lisbon, N.Y./Lisbon) got the Bears on the board at 7:52. Junior midfielder Iohseriio Tabor (Akwesasne, N.Y./Salmon River) scored at 1:58 on a feed from sophomore attack Jayla Thompson (Hogansburg, N.Y./Massena) and Potsdam trailed 4-2 after one.
- New Paltz pulled away with a 9-1 second quarter. MacWilliams scored a man-up marker at 3:31 with an assist from senior attack Tatiana Hillicke (Holtsville, N.Y./Sachem East). It was 13-3 at the break.
- The Hawks scored two of the three goals in the third quarter. Tabor had the Bears' tally with a helper from MacWilliams. The score was 15-4 through 45 minutes.
- A 3-1 fourth quarter gave the Hawks the 18-5 win. MacWilliams added another man-up goal at 12:15 on a feed from Murphy.

- New Paltz outshot Potsdam 35-14.
- Tabor had two goals and Murphy had a goal and assist. Junior midfielder Kiah Delles (Philadelphia, N.Y./Indian River) collected four ground balls and caused two turnovers.
- Senior goalie Olivia Minarich (Albany, N.Y./Albany) made seven saves in the first half and fellow senior Jane Olszewski (Thornwood, N.Y./Westlake) stopped four shots in the second half.
- Hawks junior goalie Piper Mascaros (Greenlawn, N.Y./John Glen) earned the win with one save in the first quarter. Senior Gabriella Tommaso (Port Jefferson, N.Y./Comsewogue) made a save in the second quarter and sophomore Izzy Miraglia (Hardyston, N.J./Sussex County Technical School) made four saves in the second half.
- Senior captain Lexi Atwater (Brighton, N.Y./Brighton) led the Hawks with five goals, an assist, five draw controls and two ground balls. Senior midfielder Mia Baldinger (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) had three goals and three assists along with two ground balls and two draw controls.
