HOW IT HAPPENED
- Golden Eagles freshman attackman Mason Michel (Ontario, N.Y./Wayne) opened the scoring at 8:36. Potsdam tied the game with a goal from sophomore attackman Braydon Goddard (Saratoga Springs, N.Y./Saratoga Springs) with 43 seconds left in the first quarter.
- Potsdam outscored Brockport 3-1 in the second quarter. Senior attackman Rowisonkies Barnes (Akwesasne, N.Y./The Hill Academy) made it 2-1at 13:51. Freshman attackman Brenden McClay (Greenwich, N.Y./Greenwich) tied the game a final time at 10:02. Sophomore midfielder Preston Daniels (Peru, N.Y./Peru) gave the Potsdam the lead for good at 7:43 with a man-up marker on a helper from Barnes. Kozloski finished a feed from senior midfielder Tyler Gould (Webster, N.Y./Webster Schroeder) at 1:52 and the Bears led 4-2 at the break.
- Kozloski buried his second at 4:02 of the third quarter with an assist from senior captain Tommy Storrin (Brasher Falls, N.Y./St. Lawrence Central). After Brockport freshman midfielder Dante Pezzimente (Victor, N.Y./Victor) closed the gap to 5-3, Costello and Kozloski answered for a 7-3 lead after 45 minutes. Junior captain Morgan Fox (Clayton, N.Y./Thousand Islands) assisted on Kozloski's strike.
- Barnes and Kozloski clinched the win with back-to-back goals to start the fourth quarter. Gould and Barnes had the respective assists. Freshman attackman Daniel Stiles (Homer, N.Y./Homer) closed the scoring with a final goal for Brockport at 1:35.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- The Bears outshot Brockport 42-27 and went 3-for-5 in man-up situations.
- Barnes finished with four points on two goals and two assists.
- Freshman defender Damyn LeClair (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus) caused four turnovers and picked up two ground balls, while senior defender Alex Farben-Griggs (White Plains, N.Y./White Plains) collected seven ground balls and caused two turnovers.
- Brockport junior goalie Jared Kulik (Amherst, N.Y./Amherst) had a strong day with 14 stops.
