Mike Sorrentino enters his first season as assistant swimming and diving coach.
Sorrentino joins the Bears after serving as the head coach for the Bethlehem Area YMCA BAY Rays swim team in Delmar, N.Y. for the last year. With the Rays he planned and implemented both swimming and dryland workouts for athletes of varying ability levels and ages.
From August 2013 through May 2015, Sorrentino served as the assistant coach for the Bethany College swimming and diving teams in West Virginia. With the Bison, he recruited and coached for both the men's and women's teams, working primarily with individual medley and sprint training groups. He also organized, planned and supervised swimming lessons for students. In his two seasons at Bethany, both the men's and women's teams posted dual meet winning records and set 27 individual records.
Sorrentino's first coaching experience came as an assistant for the Cortland Area YMCA Stingers swim team from Fall 2012 through Spring 2013.
Sorrentino was a four-year member of the SUNY Cortland swimming and diving team. He was a SUNYAC Championships Finalist in the 200 IM, 400 IM and the 200 FLY with the Red Dragons.
The Glens Falls native holds a New York State Professional Coaching Certification, a NYS Initial Teaching Certification as well as a USA Swimming Coach Certification. He also holds numerous American Red Cross certifications including lifeguarding, First Aid/CPR/AED etc.
Sorrentino graduated from SUNY Cortland in 2012 with a bachelor's in education. He earned his master's in teaching from Bethany College in 2015.
