CORTLAND, N.Y.—Five different Red Dragons scored as the SUNY Potsdam women's soccer team (3-4-2, 0-3 SUNYAC) was defeated at SUNY Cortland (6-4-1, 3-1) in a SUNYAC contest on Saturday afternoon.

The Red Dragons opened the scoring less than six minutes into the match as Jackie De Luise blasted a shot off the hands of Bears freshman goalkeeper Katrina Rowland for a 1-0 lead. Three and a half minutes later Kelly Knight finished a two-on-one rush for a 2-0 advantage. Allie Maguire extended the score to 3-0 Cortland, driving home a loose ball at the 19:58 mark. Potsdam's defense tightened up for the remainder of the half and didn't allow another goal.

Bears senior goalie Dedra Palmer replaced Rowland at the start of the second half. In the 60th minute, Amanda Margolis scored on a sharp angle shot from the right side and at 73:51 Taylor Teal capped the scoring with shot from 15 yards out.

Rowland made nine saves and Palmer stopped six shots.

“We ran into a better team,” said Potsdam Head Coach Mark Misiak. “I told the girls I couldn't be more proud of the effort. It would have been easy to give up and lose by more, but they played their hearts out.”

The Bears look to bounce back on Tuesday, Oct. 4, when they host Clarkson at 7 p.m.
