ELMIRA, N.Y.—Elmira College (2-0) took both games of a doubleheader from the SUNY Potsdam men's volleyball team (2-2) on Sunday afternoon. The hosts won the first match 3-0 and the second 3-1.
The Soaring Eagles took the opener by 25-15, 25-23 and 25-17 scores. Senior outside hitter
Joe Zimmerman (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) led the Potsdam with seven kills, an ace and a block. Junior outside hitter
Zaire Rogers (Cheektowaga, N.Y./Cheektowaga) registered three kills, a block and four digs. Senior setter
Alec Roy (North Tonawanda, N.Y./North Tonawanda) had two kills, an ace, three digs and 14 assists. Sophomore libero
Fernando Perez (Azusa, Calif./Azusa) had an ace and three digs.
Rogers paced Potsdam in the finale with eight kills, four digs and two service aces. Zimmerman added seven kills, seven digs and an ace. Sophomore middle
Jason Hendler (East Meadow, N.Y./East Meadow) totaled six kills, three blocks and two aces. Roy continued his solid play with 20 assists, a kill, two aces and two digs. Junior libero
Kiernan Morgan (Lynbrook, N.Y./Valley Stream North) had eight digs.
The Bears are back in action when they head to Hilbert College on Friday for a 7 p.m. contest. On Saturday they travel to D'Youville College for a noon start.
