CANTON, N.Y.—The SUNY Potsdam men's and women's indoor track and field teams started their sixth seasons with a strong showing at the St. Lawrence University Holiday Relays. The teams combined for six school records and 19 top-10 performances.
 
Sophomore Junior Oduro (Watertown, N.Y./Watertown) set the program record in the 60m with a time of 7.33 and a 12th place finish. Oduro then combined with junior Timothy Petty (Highland, N.Y./Highland), sophomore Zane Moussa and sophomore Aly Ceesay to finish sixth in the 4x200, the first time the Bears have competed in the event. Sophomore Sam Renaud (Lagrangeville, N.Y./Trinity-Pawling) was just a second shy of his own record in the 600m with a time of 1:28.95 to finish seventh. Cooper Ladouceur was 16th with the program's fifth fastest time in the same event of 2:12.30. Petty was 13th in the 1000m, with the Bears' second fastest time of 3:13.77. Junior Luke Favata (Lake Placid, N.Y./Lake Placid) was 15th in the same event with the program's fourth fastest time of 3:29.45. Ladouceur was 22nd in the 300m with the eighth fastest time of 56.01. Freshman Eli Siracusa (Penfield, N.Y./Penfield) combined with Caden Palmer, Renaud and sophomore Logan Ploss (East Greenbush, N.Y./Columbia) to finish fifth in the distance medley with the second fastest time of 12:02.52. Oduro was just .02 meters shy of his school record in the long jump, posting the program's third best distance of 5.70m for a 12th place finish. Senior Edem Bruce (Bronx, N.Y./Lancaster Mennonite School) was 15th in the long jump with Potsdam's seventh longest distance of 5.27m. Ceesay finished fourth in the men's high jump with a height of 1.80m, the first time a Bear has competed in the event indoors. Junior Michael Anderson (Lindenhurst, N.Y./Lindenhurst was 10th with a height of 1.55m.
 
In her Potsdam debut, freshman Madison Wagner set Potsdam's record in the 60m with a time of 8.56 to finish 11th. Sophomore Hailey von Ahn (Saratoga Springs, N.Y./Saratoga Springs) was 22nd with the program's eighth fastest time of 8.86. Sophomore Emily Yousey (Lacona, N.Y./Sandy Creek) became the first Bear to run the 600m, finishing third with a time of 1:51.42. Sophomore Natalie Hartmann (Farmingville, N.Y./Sachem East) was sixth in the same event with a time of 2:06.79. Freshman Aislinn Hertle (Kingston, N.Y./Kingston) was sixth in the 1000m with Potsdam's fifth fastest time of 4:32.08. von Ahn was 16th in the 300m with a time of 47.40, less than a second off her school record time. The Bears women competed in the distance medley for the first time, finishing fourth. Hartmann, Wagner, Yousey and senior Emily Ware (Massena, N.Y./Massena) ran a time of 15:48.07.
 
The Bears are now off until January 14,, when they head to Utica for the Pioneers Winter Open.
