WILKES-BARRE, PA.—SUNY Potsdam men's volleyball (4-9) fell to King's College (8-1) 3-1 (14-25, 25-19, 19-25, 24-26) (28-26, 23-25, 21-25, 22-25) in both of its matches on Sunday afternoon in Wilkes-Barre.
During the first match, senior outside hitter
Joe Zimmerman (Grand Island N.Y/Grand Island) racked up 21 kills and four aces for the Bears. Junior outside hitter
Zaire Rogers (Cheektowaga N.Y/Cheektowaga) had 13 kills, two blocks, four assists and 13 digs. Senior setter
Alec Roy (North Tonawanda N.Y./North Tonawanda) had a match high of 45 assists while libero
Keven Sanchez (Watertown, NY/Watertown) had 13 digs.
For King's, Sam Capwell had 15 kills, one ace, and five blocks. Jared Piontkowski had 14 kills, four blocks and nine digs. George Beck racked up 40 assists and Aziz Atiych had nine digs.
In match two, Zimmerman was credited with a career-high 21 kills, three blocks and eight digs. Rogers had 12 kills, two aces and 11 digs against the Monarchs. Roy added up 36 assists, seven kills, one ace and two blocks for the Bears. Sanchez finished with 16 digs.
For the Monarchs, Piontkowski had 19 kills and six blocks. Capwell had another 11 kills while Beck had an impressive 50 assists. Atiych finished with 12 digs.
The Bears are on the road Saturday, February 12, as they take on Kean University at 2:30 p.m. and Juniata College at 5 p.m.
