QUINCY, MASS.—The SUNY Potsdam men's volleyball team (9-11, 1-0 NECC) rallied from a 2-0 deficit to defeat Eastern Nazarene College (10-7, 1-1 NECC) for a 3-2 victory on Saturday afternoon. The victory was the Bears' fifth straight and their first ever in New England Collegiate Conference play.
The Lions took sets one and two 25-23 and 25-18 before Potsdam rallied for 25-22, 25-22 and 15-13 wins. Senior outside hitter
Joe Zimmerman (Fairport, N.Y./Fairport) led the Bears again with 20 kills and eight digs. Junior outside hitter
Zaire Rogers (Cheektowaga, N.Y./Cheektowaga) registered 11 kills, six blocks and four digs. Sophomore middle
Jason Hendler (East Meadow, N.Y./East Meadow) added nine kills and nine blocks. Senior setter
Alec Roy (North Tonawanda, N.Y./North Tonawanda) topped yesterday's performance with a career-high 52 assists. Senior libero
Keven Sanchez (Watertown, N.Y./Watertown) rounded out the leaders with 13 digs.
Alejandro Garcia Fernandez led the Lions with 43 kills, two aces and two blocks. Ian Pacheco had 12 kills. Jacob Zarges added nine kills, seven digs and four assists. Aaron Huang had a contest-best 58 assists and 11 digs.
The Bears are back in action on Wednesday at 5 p.m. when they face Wells College in their home opener.
