While the contest was a back and forth battle for most of the afternoon, Potsdam looked like it might overpower the Kangaroos early. Reitano opened the scoring with a free-position goal at 11:16 to begin a 3-0 run. Junior attack
Hannah Stevenson (Canton, N.Y./Hugh C. Williams) doubled the lead 23 seconds later and Reitano made it 3-0 with a helper from Stone. Canton answered with the next two and LaDue netted Potsdam's fourth goal on a free-position at 3:27. The Bears led 4-2 after 15 minutes.
Canton scored three of the four goals in the second quarter. Stone scored Potsdam's only goal in the 15 minutes with an assist from LaDue. The score was knotted at 5-5 at the break.
A 4-1 Bears run put some distance between the teams in the third quarter. Freshman attack
Mallory Marks (Brownville, N.Y./General Brown) had the first and last goals of the quarter. The first came with an assist from the Reitano and the second came on a free position. Reitano had the second goal and then assisted on a man-up goal from LaDue. Potsdam was up 9-6 after 45 minutes.
Marks struck again with an assist from Reitano at 11:19 of the fourth quarter to extend the lead to four. Canton then rallied for three straight, including two from Samantha Dayter to close within 10-9 with 3:32 on the clock. Dayter had a chance to tie the game with 1:29 left, but Terrance stonewalled her to preserve the lead. Junior attack
Julia Blair (Massena, N.Y./Massena) scored Potsdam's 11th goal as time expired with an assist from Stone.
Madison Leary made five saves for Canton and Dayter led the Roos' offense with four goals and an assist.
With the victory, Terrance moves into fourth place on the program's wins list.
Potsdam is back in action on Saturday when the Bears head to Brockport to resume SUNYAC play.
