POTSDAM, N.Y.—Plattsburgh State (4-7, 2-4 SUNYAC) built a three-goal lead in the first half and made it stand up in a 16-13 win over the SUNY Potsdam women's lacrosse team (6-7, 1-5) on Wednesday night. Junior attack

Tessa Pierce (Saratoga Springs, N.Y./Saratoga Springs) gave the Bears a 3-2 lead with 5:19 left in the first quarter. The Cardinals closed the opening 15 minutes with three in a row for a 5-3 advantage.
Potsdam bounced back with three straight to open the second quarter. Reitano, Pierce and freshman attack
Mallory Marks (Brownville, N.Y./General Brown) scored in succession to give the Bears a lead for the final time at 6-5 with 10:10 left in the half. Plattsburgh scored the next five straight for a 10-6 lead at 4:07 and Potsdam was forced to play catch up. Stevenson set up Marks 20 seconds before the half and closed the gap to three goals.
Junior defender
Taylor Swamp (Akwesasne, N.Y./Salmon River) scored a man-up goal with an assist from Reitano to open the third quarter at 10:05. After the Cardinals answered eight minutes later, Stevenson scored to make it 11-9 with 2:06 left in the third. Unfortunately, Potsdam couldn't get any closer. Plattsburgh scored the final goal of the quarter for a 12-9 lead and start another 3-0 run.
Two more Plattsburgh goals extended the advantage to 14-9 with 13:17 to play in the fourth. Reitano struck at 12:03 and sophomore midfielder
Lindsey LaDue (Massena, N.Y./Massena) buried a man-up goal at 10:39 to narrow the gap back to three. The teams split the last four goals so the Bears couldn't pick up any ground. Swamp scored a man-down goal at 7:04 and LaDue netted a man-up goal at 5:26 to make it a 15-13 contest. However, the Cardinals answered at 4:28 and then ran the clock down.
Cardinals sophomore goalie Johanna Malone (Levittown, N.Y./Division Avenue) made two saves and allowed six goals in the first 21:01. Junior Lilla Nease (Lake Forest, Calif./El Toro) allowed seven goals and made six saves in the final 38:59 to pick up the win. Junior defender Caroline Noia (West Nyack, N.Y./Clarkstown South) led Plattsburgh offensively with four goals and two assists for six points. Senior attack Emily Caoili (Lagrangeville, N.Y./Lagrangeville) had three goals and two assists and sophomore midfielder Jordan Kowalski (Westfield, Mass./Westfield) scored four goals.
With her five-point day Reitano has 67 points on the season on 45 goals and 22 assists. The total is the fifth most in program history. She needs just five points in her final three games to set Potsdam's single-season scoring record. Reitano is also at 111 points for her career, ranking eighth on the program's all-time scoring list.
The Bears will honor their seniors this Saturday prior to their 2:30 p.m. home contest with Oswego State.
