POTSDAM, N.Y.—SUNY New Paltz (13-9, 2-2 SUNYAC) swept the SUNY Potsdam softball team (0-11, 0-4) in two games on Sunday. The Hawks claimed 18-2 and 11-0 decisions.
In game one, New Paltz had the bats going right out the gate, scoring five runs on five hits in the top of the first. They added two in the second, five in the third, two in the fourth and four more in the fifth. Senior designated player Katie Quagliana (East Amherst, N.Y./Williamsville South) was 3-for-5 with two runs and four RBI. Senior left fielder Carol Ann Campsey (Commack, N.Y./Commack) was 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI and a two-run home run. Junior centerfielder Sydney Bonewit (Kingston, N.Y./East Stroudsburg University) was 3-for-3 with two runs and an RBI.

Anna Grottola (Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Connetquot) was 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run for Potsdam. Freshman centerfielder
Danielle Moscarello (Arlington, Vt./Mount Anthony Union) was 1-for-2 with one RBI.
Hawks sophomore pitcher Lindsay Roman (Merrick, N.Y./Sanford H. Calhoun) (6-3) earned the win after allowing just two runs on four hits in three innings. Freshman Sydney Waldon (Maplewood, N.J./Columbia) struck out all six batters she faced in two innings of relief.
Bears sophomore starter
Anna Brown (Ellenburg Depot, N.Y./Northern Adirondack) (0-5) was touched up for seven runs on eight hits in two innings pitched. Senior
Sierra Ashley (Ogdensburg, N.Y./Lisbon) allowed 11 runs, nine earned, on 11 hits in the last three innings.
In game two, New Paltz struck for three in the second, two in the third, one in the fifth and five in the sixth. Freshman second baseman Jackie Rometo (Montgomery, N.Y./Valley Central) was 4-for-5 with five RBI. Freshman right fielder Nicole Greco (Southington, Conn./Southington) was 2-for-3 with three runs and senior pitcher Jillian Harrison (Gardiner, N.Y./DeSales University) went 2-for-3 with two runs and three RBI.
Harrison (2-2) picked up the win with five, three-hit, scoreless innings. Quagliana allowed a hit in a scoreless sixth inning.
Brown was tagged with the loss in the second contest as well. She allowed six runs on 10 hits, while striking out two. Freshman
Rebecca Holmes (Lawtons, N.Y./North Collins) allowed five unearned runs on three hits in one inning.
Senior second baseman
Vanessa Brandt (Saugerties, N.Y./Saugerties) and Moscarello were each 2-for-3 for the Bears.
Potsdam is back in action on Wednesday when the Bears host Clarkson University in a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m.
