POTSDAM, N.Y.—Four SUNY Potsdam men's lacrosse players have been named to All-SUNYAC teams for the 2025 season. Senior midfielder
Owen Walsh (Ballston Spa, N.Y./Ballston Spa) claimed a spot on the first team, while senior captain
Cobie Cree (Akwesasne, N.Y./Salmon River), junior faceoff specialist
Drew Costello (Ogdensburg, N.Y./Ogdensburg Free Academy) and senior captain
Cole Slavin (Corning, N.Y./Corning-Painted Post) earned spots on the second team.
Walsh is making his third all-conference appearance, having earned second team in both 2022 and 2024. This season he totaled 48 points on 34 goals and 14 assists in 14 games. He finished second on the team in scoring and seventh in the SUNYAC. The midfielder also has 31 ground balls and seven caused turnovers. In 58 career games, Walsh has 113 goals and 64 assists for 177 points, placing him sixth on the Bears all-time scoring list as well as fifth in goals and seventh in assists. Over his four seasons, he also compiled 108 ground balls and 27 caused turnovers.
Cree led the Bears this season with a personal best 54 points on 29 goals and 25 assists. He also had 30 ground balls and eight caused turnovers. The attackman ranked fifth in the conference in scoring. Cree saw action in 66 games in his time in Potsdam, scoring 109 goals and assisting on 57 for 166 career points. He ranks eighth in all-time scoring and goals. He also registered 111 ground balls and 41 caused turnovers.
Costello dominated in the faceoff circle this season. He was third the SUNYAC and ranked 27th in the nation with a .655 winning percentage (232-354). He also totaled 133 ground balls and scored five goals. In his three seasons, Costello has won 551 of 951 faceoffs for a .579 clip. He was named the 2025 SUNYAC All-Tournament team for his play in the conference semifinals.
Slavin is making his second straight appearance on the second team. The defender started all 14 games he's played this season. Slavin caused 13 turnovers and picked up 23 ground balls. He's played in 55 contests with 45 starts in his career. Slavin has collected 98 ground balls and caused 48 turnovers in those games.
The Bears were 8-7 in 2025 with a 4-3 mark in SUNYAC play. They reached the postseason for the second straight year before bowing at top-seeded SUNY Cortland in semifinals.
