POTSDAM, N.Y. – Senior women's hockey goaltender
Magalie Parent (Trois-Rivières, Quebec/Les Diablos – Cégep de Trois-Rivières) has been named the SUNYAC Goaltender of the Week for the week ending February 21, the third time she's been awarded the honor this season.
Parent was instrumental in the Bears' SUNYAC weekend sweep of Morrisville and Cortland, recording 59 saves, a .983 save percentage, a 1.00 goals-against average, and a shutout to clinch the final spot in conference playoffs. In the 2-1 win over the Mustangs on Friday, she made 23 saves (.958). The captain earned her seventh career shutout, fourth of the season, in the 1-0 victory against the Red Dragons, stopping all 36 shots in the contest.
Parent and the Bears travel to Cortland on Wednesday for the first round of the SUNYAC playoffs. Puck drop is at 3 p.m. Potsdam remains undefeated against the Red Dragons this season, with a 0-0 tie and the 1-0 win.
