POTSDAM, N.Y.—Junior men's soccer player Thomas Wendel (Mechanicville, N.Y./Mechanicville) and senior women's soccer player Caroline Vines (Irondequoit, N.Y./Irondequoit) are the SUNY Potsdam Athletes of the Week for the week ending September 6.
 
Wendel had a goal and assist to lead the Bears with three points in a 1-1-1 week. The forward had an assist at Nazareth on Tuesday and then the game-winning goal in Potsdam's home opener against Keuka on Saturday.
 
Vines recorded a 0.67 goals-against-average, .931 save percentage, 27 saves and two shutouts in a 1-1-1 week for Potsdam. She led all SUNYAC goalies in the latter three categories. The captain made 12 saves at Russell Sage on Tuesday. She then made a career-high 14 stops in a 0-0 draw at home against Utica on Friday to earn her first career shutout. On Saturday, she earned her second shutout and fifth career victory in a 2-0 win over Vermont State-Johnson.
