Through four years in a Bears uniform, Lee recorded 115 points (41g, 74a), guided the Bears to a SUNYAC Finals appearance and became the program's fifth All-American. His experience at Potsdam and immense talent then propelled him into the professional ranks. Numerous members of Potsdam's hockey program have reached the pros, but none have achieved the success and reached the heights Lee attained in his career.

The MacTier, Ontario native played in 962 professional contests in the ECHL, American Hockey League, Deutsche Eishockey Liga, Swedish Hockey League and Kontinental Hockey League. He amassed 600 points (152g, 448a) and nearly reached the National Hockey League with the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2008 and the Los Angeles Kings in 2017.
One of Lee's greatest achievements was competing for Team Canada five times, including the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics in February. There, he served as an alternate captain and totaled five assists as the Canadians claimed the bronze medal.
