Softball downed in first game before play suspended

Box Score POTSDAM, N.Y. – The SUNY Potsdam softball team was unable to get the bats going on Saturday, falling 9-0 in five innings against Fredonia State in a State University of New York Athletic Conference affair at Maxcy Hall softball field.

The second game of the scheduled doubleheader was suspended in the bottom of the second inning due to rain with Fredonia leading 3-0. No make-up date to complete the contest has been scheduled.

Junior pitcher Katie Nawrot (Buffalo, N.Y.) fell to 0-3 with the loss, scattering seven hits and three walks over 2 2/3 innings. Junior Meaghan Patterson (Malone, N.Y.) pitched the last 2 1/3, allowing just one earned run.
