The Hawks (2-3) scored four of the first five goals of the contest, including two from junior midfielder Joe Shields, to grab a 4-1 advantage at the 5:50 mark of the first quarter. Potsdam answered with three straight from junior midfielder

Hartwick regained the lead twice over the first five minutes of quarter two, sandwiching a pair of tallies around another Pike strike. Logan got his second at 8:52, sparking a 3-0 Potsdam run to grab an 8-6 lead. Pike and Kunz also scored during the stretch. Hawk junior attackman Harry Hughes found the net with 24 seconds on the clock and Hartwick trailed 8-7 at the half.
Hughes and Hawk sophomore attackman Phil Shaefer opened the scoring in the second half to give Hartwick a 9-8 lead at 6:34. Morrill set up Kunz with 17 seconds left in the third quarter to tie the game at nine and the Bears never trailed again.

Ryan McConnell scored his first career goal at 13:23 of the fourth quarter to put Potsdam up 10-9. Kunz and sophomore midfielder
Jared Flath followed with two more for a 12-9 Bear lead with 8:15 remaining. Hawk sophomore midfielder Cody Ciolino made it two-goal game with 6:12 left. After the goal, the Bears got two big saves from senior goalie
Mike Quinlan to keep the 12-10 advantage. With under two minutes left, junior attack
Kyle Nicholas forced a turnover and set up Pike who iced the game with his third marker at 1:44.
Quinlan finished with 12 saves to earn the win for the Bears, while freshman goalie Matthew Galvin stopped nine shots for Hartwick.
Hughes led the Hawks with three goals and an assist for four points. Shields also contributed four points for Hartwick (2g-2a). Morrill and Flath each finished with a goal and two assists for Potsdam.
With the win the Bears snapped a three-game losing skid in the all-time series with the Hawks. The victory was Potsdam's first over Hartwick since a 19-11 win in Oneonta on May 5, 1990.
The Bears are back in action on Wednesday, March 21, when they travel to Morrisville to take on the Mustangs at 4 p.m.
