The shots kept falling in the men's basketball matchup between SUNYAC foes Potsdam and Geneseo. 

But a three-minute stretch about midway through the first half proved to be the difference as the Knights went on a crucial 16-0 run that gave Geneseo enough cushion to hold on for an 86-74 conference victory over Potsdam on Saturday evening at Clarkson University.

The game had to be moved to Clarkson's Alumni Gymnasium after a leaky roof in Jerry Welsh Gymnasium prompted a change of scenery and an hour and 15 minute delay. 

The Knights (7-2 overall, 1-1 SUNYAC) shot a blistering 60 percent from the field and 90 percent from the charity stripe for the game as it took a 50-31 lead into halftime.

James McKenna had a game-high 23 points and Connor Fedge scored 20 for the Knights. 

The Bears (2-9 overall, 0-4 SUNYAC) were not far behind as it shot 50 percent from the floor including 10-of-19 from beyond the arc and 80 percent from the line.  Potsdam rallied back to outscore the Knights 43-36 in the second half. 

Senior Colin Peterson (Hilton, N.Y. / Hilton) scored a season-high 17 points in 17 minutes.  The forward got hot from downtown, making 5-of-8 from long range.  The point total was 12.3 points above his scoring average entering play.  Peterson also had two steals and a blocked shot. 

Senior captain Rob Duquette (Peru, N.Y. / Peru) notched his fourth double-double of the season and first since Nov. 23 against Clarkson with 15 points on 7-of-9 shooting and grabbed 12 rebounds. 

Junior guard/forward Zac Adams (Potsdam, N.Y. / Potsdam) had nine points and a season-high six assists.  Guard Joe Estramonte scored 12 points, nailing a couple of 3-pointers and dished out four assists. 

Senior forward Brandon Williams (Brooklyn, N.Y. / Boys & Girls) had a season-high three steals with six points and three assists. 

Potsdam will next take to the road to take on Oneonta State Friday at 8 p.m.
