The Bengals scored the first two goals of the contest before Potsdam freshman attack
Mariah Pierce (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill) got the Bears on the board at 23:15 with an assist from Weigel. Buffalo State then turned up its offense and closed the half with a 9-0 run. Becca Martinez scored three times during the stretch.

The Bears outshot the Bengals 28-25 and finished with a 25-16 advantage in ground balls.

Varney, who was sidelined for the final three games of the season due to injury, scored 29 goals and recorded four assists and 21 ground balls in 26 games.
