Senior right-handed pitcher Megan Johnson (Heuvelton, N.Y. / Heuvelton) produced a quality start by going six innings and allowed three earned runs on seven hits and struck out two, but the SUNY Potsdam softball team lost at St. Lawrence University 4-0 in game one of a doubleheader on Monday afternoon in a rescheduled twin bill that was pushed back due to inclement weather.
 
In game two, senior Megan Briner (Corinth, N.Y. / Corinth) was sharp as she went into the seventh inning before allowing a run as the Saints pulled out a 1-0 walk-off victory. 
 
Designated player Hannah Sears drove home center fielder Rebecca Allen on a single up the middle with one out for the winning RBI. 
 
Briner (1-11) allowed seven hits, struck out one and did not walk a batter for the Bears (5-25). 
 
Saints catcher Leslie Stratton and shortstop Aisha O'Connor each batted 2-for-3 for St. Lawrence (15-19).  Kyle Plimpton (10-13) went the distance, struck out 10, walked one and allowed one hit. 
 
Freshman shortstop Jordan Ott (Hilton, N.Y. / Hilton) combined to go 3-for-7 with a double between the two games from her customary leadoff spot to raise her batting average to .341 on the season. 
 
Double play partner Alexis Lerman (Fayetteville, N.Y. / Jamesville-Dewitt) batted 1-for-2 with a walk, single and stole two bases in game one.  Lerman has now successfully stolen four of five bases on the campaign.  Despite going 0-for-3 in game two, Lerman has batted 9-for 20 (.450) over the past week. 
 
Freshman right fielder Noella Rufa (Helena, N.Y. / St. Lawrence Central) and fellow freshman catcher Angela Yodis (Duanesburg, N.Y. / Schalmont) also collected a hit apiece for Potsdam.
 
Sears batted 2-for-3 and knocked in two runs on a double in the bottom of the sixth inning and Allen went 1-for-3 and scored twice to lead St. Lawrence.  Jordan Sheridan, Sears (4-5) and Sumra Sikandar combined to pitch the shutout.  Johnson fell to 4-11.
 
Potsdam will be back in action on Wednesday at SUNY Canton starting at 3 p.m. for another nonconference doubleheader.
