Potsdam Basketball documentary “The Bodacious Bears” to debut Sunday, Nov. 6

POTSDAM, N.Y.—Relive the championship moments of the Jerry Welsh Era of SUNY Potsdam men's basketball with the original documentary film "The Bodacious Bears".

After two years of work, the documentary, produced by North Country natives Tim Dempsey and Francesco Palumbo, will debut in the SUNY Potsdam's Proscenium Theatre at the Performing Arts Center at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 6.

The documentary features rare game footage, exclusive interviews with Hall of Fame Coach Welsh, and many legendary Bears players and staff. Narration is provided by Coach Welsh's son Tim, a Massena native, former Bear, Division I coach and current ESPN analyst.

The event highlights the Bears men's basketball November 5-6 alumni weekend, which will see Coach Welsh and many former Bears return to campus. The current 2022-23 Bears squad will hold an intrasquad scrimmage at 1 p.m. in Welsh Gymnasium on Saturday, November 5. The contest will be followed by alumni social gatherings. The weekend will conclude with the film's premiere that Sunday.
