OSWEGO, N.Y.—The SUNY Potsdam men's lacrosse team (3-5, 0-2 SUNYAC) nearly rallied from a nine-goal deficit before falling at Oswego State (7-2, 1-0) 22-18 on Tuesday afternoon. Freshman midfielder 
Owen Walsh (Ballston Spa, N.Y./Ballston Spa) and sophomore attackman 
Cobie Cree (Hogansburg, N.Y./Salmon River) each recorded career-highs of seven points on three goals and four assists and four goals and three assists, respectively. Senior captain 
Alec Miller (Williamsville, N.Y./Williamsville South) also had a career-high of six points on four goals and two assists. Junior midfielder 
Peyton Walsh (Ballston Spa, N.Y./Ballston Spa) finished with three goals.
 
After Oswego opened the scoring 59 seconds into the contest on a goal from Corey O'Connor, Potsdam answered with three in a row. Miller set up 
Owen Walsh to tie the game at 12:36. Senior captain 
Henry Reber (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua) assisted on 
Peyton Walsh's man-up goal at 8:57. Freshman midfielder 
Drew Rose (Brasher Falls, N.Y./St. Lawrence Central) scored at 6:36 with a helper from 
Owen Walsh and the Bears led 3-1.
 
Unfortunately, the Lakers responded with an 11-0 run. O'Connor scored three times during the surge, while Ryan Dumont and Gavin Elston each scored twice. Oswego led 12-3 with 10:37 left in the second quarter. Miller ended the run at 8:19 and the teams' split the final eight goals of the half. 
Owen Walsh assisted on a goal by Cree at 6:55 and 
Peyton Walsh scored 1:20 later. Cree scored his second with an assist from Miller at 2:44. Three different Lakers scored in the last 2:05 and Oswego led 17-7 at the break.
 
The Bears' offense finally started to click in the third quarter and Potsdam opened the half on a 6-0 run.

Alex Burley (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua) each scored twice and Cree and Reber netted the other two goals. Cree and Miller also had two assists each during the run.
 
Down just 17-13 with 14:15 left in the contest, the Bears were on the brink of overrunning their hosts. Again the Lakers answered, this time with a 4-2 run to build a 21-15 lead with 7:50 to play. Senior captain 
Cam Talcott (Potsdam, N.Y./Potsdam) scored with an assist from Cree at 11:13 and 
Peyton Walsh notched his third at 8:36. Potsdam scored three of the final four goals in the contest, but ran out of time. Miller buried his fourth at 6:29. Cree scored his third with an assist from 
Owen Walsh at 4:31. Talcott scored the game's final goal with an assist from Reber at 1:35.
 
Junior goalie 
Ben Fuchs (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./Calvary Christian Academy) made eight saves and allowed 17 goals in the first 31:56. Sophomore 
Liam O'Neil (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) made five saves and allowed five goals in the last 28:04. Aiden Kenyon earned the win for Oswego with 12 goals allowed and eight saves in the opening 44:15. Jeff Kinyoun gave up the final six goals and made two stops in the last 15:45.
 
The Bears are back in action at SUNY Geneseo on Saturday at noon.
