POTSDAM, N.Y. – SUNY Potsdam softball coach Brianna Ferchen has announced that former Bears second baseman Vanessa Brandt '22 will serve as her assistant for the upcoming 2023 season. Brandt replaces two-year assistant Abby Hodgdon '20.
 
Brandt played four seasons for the Bears and registered a .291 batting average on 64 hits and 42 runs through 80 career games. She also stole 22 bases during her career at Potsdam.
 
The Saugerties native and Saugerties High School graduate was the softball team's rookie of the year in 2019. In addition, Brandt was also named team MVP for both the 2021 and 2022 seasons.
 
Brandt graduated from Potsdam in May with a degree in business and is currently attending Clarkson University in pursuit of her MBA.
