Bears solid at Utica Fast Trax Invite

UTICA N.Y.—The SUNY Potsdam men's and women's track and field teams continued to record strong individual performances as they competed at Utica University's Fast Trax Invitational on Saturday. The women had six top-10 performances as they crushed three program records. The men set a program record along with four top-10 performances on the day. The men's and women's team both placed 14th as Utica University captured the men's title and Bloomsburg captured the women's title.
 
Freshman Madison Wagner (Chittenango, N.Y./Chittenango) broke the program's 60m record for the third week in a row with a stellar time of 8.38 earning her a ninth place finish. Sophomore Hailey von Ahn (Saratoga Springs, N.Y./Saratoga Springs) was close behind in the same event with the program's seventh fastest time of 8.57. von Ahn and Wagner also earned top-10 all time marks in the 200 with von Ahn finishing in 28.05 for a new program record while Wagner finished in 28.58 for the program's fourth best time. Sophomore Emily Yousey (Lacona, N.Y./Sandy Creek) earned an indoor PR and set a program record with a time of 1:03.62 in the 400M to finish 10th overall. Senior Emily Ware (Massena, N.Y./Massena) finished in the Mile with Potsdam's tenth fastest time of 6:35.32.
 
Sophomore Sam Renaud (Lagrangeville, N.Y./Trinity-Pawling) had a fourth place finish in the 800M in the program's second best time of 2:00.12, matching his indoor personal best, to finish sixth overall. Sophomore Junior Oduro (Watertown, N.Y./Watertown) ran the fifth fastest time in program history in the 60m in 7.43. He then set Potsdam's record time in the 200M (23.62) which placed him 10th overall. Senior Luke Favata (Lake Placid N.Y./Lake Placid) matched the pole vault school record with a clearance of 2.45m to place eighth overall. Closing out the field events was senior Edem Bruce (Bronx, N.Y./Lancaster Mennonite School) who jumped 5.52m in the long jump for the program's fourth best jump.
 
The Bears are back in action on Wednesday as they head to a midweek invitational held by Plattsburgh State.
