POTSDAM, N.Y.—Six SUNY Potsdam men's soccer players have been named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team. The teams are selected by CSC member directors of athletic communications to recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
To be eligible for the honor, athletes need be at least a sophomore, maintain at least a 3.5 GPA, compete in 90 percent of their teams' contests or start in 66 percent.
Sophomore forward
Thomas Wendel (Mechanicville, N.Y./Mechanicville) was Potsdam's leading scorer this season with five goals and two assists for 12 points. He played in 16 contests with 15 starts. Over his two seasons, Wendel has 14 points on six goals and two assists in 31 contests with 15 starts.
Junior defender
Matthew Mapes (Fort Drum, N.Y./Carthage) is academic all-district for the second straight season. This year he played in all 17 games, starting 15 and picking up an assist. In his three years at Potsdam, Mapes has three assists in 49 games with 29 starts.
Junior midfielder
Kyan Mathieu (East Aurora, N.Y./East Aurora) saw action in every contest and started 10. He's played in 38 career games with 12 starts.
Sophomore midfielder
Kyan Tiede (Leicester, N.Y./York) had a goal and two assists for four points in all 17 games this season with 12 starts. He has three goals and two assists for eight points in his two years, while playing in 31 games with 22 starts.
Sophomore forward
Logan Bush (Newcomb, N.Y./Newcomb) was the Bears' second leading scorer in 2025 with three goals for six points. In his two years, he's played in 32 games with 19 starts.
Sophomore forward
JJ Williams (Vestal, N.Y./Vestal) started every game for Potsdam this season, posting a goal and two assists for four points. In two seasons, he's played in 31 games with 19 starts.
The Bears were 5-11-1 this Fall, recording their first win over Clarkson since 2017.
