PHILADELPHIA, PA.—Maccabi USA Basketball Commissioner Donna Orender has appointed SUNY Potsdam women's basketball head coach
Brittany Cohen and Yale assistant coach Amber Raisner as co-head coaches of the USA Open Women's Basketball Team for the 2025 World Maccabiah Games. The games are widely recognized as the International Jewish Olympics and will take place from July 8-22 in Israel.
The first Maccabiah was held in 1932 and is the world's largest Jewish athletic competition. It is the second largest sporting event in the world, in terms of the number of athletes competing, after the Olympics. The 2025 games will have over 10,000 athletes from 80 different countries competing in 40 different sports. The USA delegation will be sending around 1300 athletes.
Cohen and the Jewish National team will head to Israel for training camp in Jerusalem from July 1-8. The opening ceremonies will take place on July 10.
Cohen has helmed Potsdam's program since 2016-17 and has recruited and developed multiple All-SUNYAC players. As a player at SUNY Cortland, she was a two-time SUNYAC Player of the Year and a WBCA Honorable Mention All-American.
