NEDROW, N.Y.—SUNY Potsdam freshman women's lacrosse player
Kimora Swamp (Akwesasne, N.Y./Salmon River) has been named to the Haudenosaunee Nationals team for the Pan-American Lacrosse Association Women's Qualifier. The tournament will take place from June 26-30 at the Lake Myrtle Sports Complex in Auburndale, Fla.
Swamp is one of two goalkeepers on the roster. The freshman had a special year for the Bears in her debut campaign. She was selected as the SUNYAC Goalie of the Year, Rookie of the Year and first team All-SUNYAC. Swamp was also voted the SUNY Potsdam Female Athlete of the Year. This season, she posted a .446 save percentage with 129 saves and a 12.90 goals-against average. Swamp had a career-high 18 saves against Cortland on March 22. She already ranks sixth on the program's wins list with seven victories. In the SUNYAC, she ranked third in saves and second in save percentage.
The top four teams from the Pan-American region will qualify for the 2026 World Lacrosse Women's Championship in Japan. Three more teams will earn spots in the WL Women's Division II Championship. The 11-team field comprises the Haudenosaunee, United States, Canada, Argentina, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, Peru, and U.S. Virgin Islands. The Haudenosaunee enter the event ranked eighth in the world. The Originators of the Game are coming off a gold medal finish at the 2023 PALA Sixes Cup.
In 2025, the Bears recorded a 7-8 overall record, tying the program's single-season wins mark. Potsdam also started the season 5-0 for the first time ever.
