Red Dragons handle Bears, 4-0

Box Score
ONEONTA, N.Y.—Oneonta State (7-2-2, 4-0-1 SUNYAC) scored first half goals to hand the SUNY Potsdam men's soccer team (5-5-2, 2-1-1) a 4-0 defeat in a SUNYAC match on Friday. Eric Fortier scored two goals and Nicholas Lange recorded two assists to lead the Red Dragon offense.

Oneonta jumped on the Bears quickly in the first half. Just over 11 minutes into the game, Lange fired a shot into the crossbar and Gary Laronde headed in the rebound for the first marker. Four minutes later Lange set up Fortier's first goal for a 2-0 advantage. The play evened over the next 15 minutes, but at the 31:22 mark, Fortier headed in a cross from Laronde. In the 39th minute, Daniel Josepher closed the scoring with a goal off a direct kick. The Bears were more competitive in the second half, but unable to get back into the contest.

Potsdam junior goalkeeper Joseph Glackin allowed the four goals without a save in the first 62:28. Junior Jake Gyder made one save in the final 27:32. Oneonta's Max Siegelman and Daniel DeBottis each played a half in goal, with Siegelman stopping one shot.

The Bears look to get back into the playoff hunt tomorrow at 1 p.m. when they travel to New Paltz.
