Fredonia would take the momentum they ended the first half on, and continue it into the second. The Blue Devils came out of halftime hot, and scored 10 of the first 15 points to take a 14-point lead. The Bears began to ramp up the pressure on the defensive end and would hold Fredonia without a point for almost seven minutes. In that time, four different Bears would score and cut the lead to 40-36. Warren would finally end the scoring drought with a jumper but senior
Kaley Arsenault converted on two free throws and junior
Katy Briedis hit a jumper and the lead was 43-40 with only 7:05 left. Now, it was time for Fredonia's defense to tighten and they held Potsdam to only two points through the remaining seven minutes to pull out the victory. Warren was the offensive catalyst down the stretch, scoring six straight points to begin the 11-2 run which ensured the victory.
Kouzan led Potsdam (4-16, 2-11) with 10 points and also grabbed seven rebounds while Weigel added nine points of her own. The Bears shot 36.2 percent from the field and hit 4-of-12 shots from behind the arc but frustrated Fredonia with their stingy defense. They held the Blue Devils to 28.5 percent shooting from the field in the second half including only 2-of-8 from long range.
The Blue Devil pressure defense forced 21 Potsdam turnovers and Fredonia went 13-of-16 from the free throw line to pull away.
The Bears return to action tomorrow afternoon at 2 p.m. when they host Buffalo St.
