DAY 4 RESULTS / COMPLETE RESULTS

BUFFALO, N.Y.—Sophomore captain Katherine Steeves (Kingston, N.Y./Kingston) finished fourth on the final day of the SUNYAC Swimming and Diving Championships. Four other members of the SUNY Potsdam swimming teams reached the B Finals on the day. The Bears women finished seventh and the men were ninth. SUNY Cortland claimed the women's title and SUNYAC affiliate member Penn State Behrend won the men's crown.
 
Steeves finished the 200 Butterfly preliminaries in third place in 2:18.89. She was nearly three seconds faster in the A finals with a time of 2:15.98 but was edged out of an All-SUNYAC slot by .2 seconds. Junior Leo Plaza (Hudson, N.Y./Taconic Hills) was 16^th in the 200 Backstroke preliminaries in 2:26.78. They were faster in the B Finals, with a time of 2:24.46 to claim the 14th spot. Senior captain Kathryn Nelson (Riverside, R.I./St. Mary Academy – Bayview) finished 20th in the same event in 2:35.71. Junior Madison Mitchell (Canton, N.Y./Hugh C. Williams) placed 12th in the 100 Freestyle preliminaries in 58.85. She moved up a spot to 11th in the B Finals where she posted a time of 58.50. Seven other Bears competed in the 100 Freestyle. Sophomore Amelia Bohr (Unionville, N.Y./Minisink Valley) (1:02.30) was 17th, junior Allie Shoen (Owego, N.Y./Owego) (1:04.12) was 20th, freshman Delayne Jessie (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) (1:07.19) was 23rd, junior Nataelee Mullen (Canandaigua, N.Y./Canandaigua) (1:08.28) was 24th, freshman Emma Montgomery (Winthrop, N.Y./St. Lawrence Central) (1:08.29) was 25th, junior Leah-Kristine Hunt (Watertown, N.Y./Watertown) (1:16.30) was 31st and freshman Julie LaMantia (Binghamton, N.Y./Susquehanna Valley) (1:16.99) finished 33rd. The Bears 400 Freestyle Relay team of Steeves, Bohr, Mitchell and Plaza finished seventh in 3:58.00.
 
In the Men's 200 Butterfly, senior captain Zach DeLorme (Rochester, N.Y./Irondequoit) was 10th with a time of 2:07.09 and freshman Demetrio Schiavone (Altamont, N.Y./Guilderland) finished 13^th in 2:10.20. Both qualified for the B Finals where DeLorme was 12th (2:07.43) and Schiavone was 13th (2:09.51). Freshman Jackson Korn (Clarence, N.Y./Clarence) (55.53) and senior Tyler Tice (Oswego, N.Y./Oswego) (1:04.30) were 29th and 32nd in the 100 Freestyle. Junior Tyler Schmitt (Deer Park, N.Y./Deer Park) finished 20th in the 200 Breaststroke with a time of 2:41.95. Senior Finn Boyle (Lynbrook, N.Y./Lynbrook) was ninth in the 1650 Freestyle in 17:20.45. The 400 Freestyle Relay team of Boyle, Korn, Schiavone, DeLorme was also ninth in a time of 3:34.22
 
The meet marks the conclusion of the careers of seniors Nelson, Boyle, Tice and DeLorme. Potsdam earned multiple spots in event finals and claimed SUNYAC Academic Achievement Award over the four-day championships.
