POTSDAM, N.Y. – SUNY Potsdam senior goaltender
Magalie Parent (Trois-Rivières, Quebec/Les Diablos – Cégep de Trois-Rivières) has been named the State University of New York Athletic Conference Goaltender of the Year and has been selected to the All-SUNYAC first team for the 2025-26 season. Parent had the best season of her career and was instrumental in the Bears reaching the postseason for the first time in four seasons.
Parent boasted a 10-9-2 record in 23 games, with 22 starts, tying Potsdam's single-season wins record. The captain had a career-best 2.06 goals-against-average, a .935 save percentage, and recorded four shutouts, a new program single-season record. She picked up a 35-save, shutout win at No.12 Elmira early in the season. Parent was named the SUNYAC Goaltender of the week three times in the 2025-26 campaign, finishing sixth in G.A.A, fourth in save percentage, third in wins, and first in saves made (659) in the conference.
Parent recorded two home SUNYAC weekend sweeps, with back-to-back wins over Oswego and Canton in January and victories against Morrisville and Cortland on the final weekend of the regular season, clinching the sixth-seed in conference playoffs with her second shutout of the Red Dragons.
Parent finishes her career with a 17-31-4 record in 54 games played, the third most wins in program history. After four seasons with the Bears, she moves into the top two in most other statistical categories, taking second place in saves made (1598) and G.A.A (2.13). The goaltender boasts Potsdam records in save percentage (.935) and shutouts (7).
The Bears posted an 11-13-2 overall record and were 6-7-1 in the SUNYAC this year.
