POTSDAM, N.Y.—SUNY Potsdam freshman women's hockey player
Anouk Belmans (Beerse, Belgium/Ontario Hockey Academy) has been selected to play for her home country of Belgium in the 2026 International Ice Hockey Federation Women's World Championships in Hong Kong later this month.
Belgium will complete in Division 2B along with Mexico, New Zealand, Ukraine, Hong Kong and Lithuania from March 30-April 5. Belmans and her teammates will open the competition against Lithuania on March 30 at 4 p.m. Hong Kong time.
Belmans, a goaltender was part of a Bears team that went 11-13-2 this season, including a 6-7-1 mark in the SUNYAC. Potsdam shut out SUNY Cortland on the final day of the regular season to clinch its first playoff berth in four years.
