BUFFALO, N.Y.—Divers led the way for the SUNY Potsdam swimming and diving teams on Day 1 of the 2023 SUNYAC Swimming and Diving Championships at Erie Community College Pool on Wednesday afternoon.

Freshman
Sierra Jackel (Spencerport, N.Y./Spencerport) registered a score of 381.05 in the preliminaries of the 3-meter diving competition and 377.55 in the finals for a fifth place finish. Senior
Zoe Gliganic (Stony Brook, N.Y./Ward Melville) had a score of 370.80 in the preliminaries and 346.00 to place eighth.

In the women's 800 Freestyle Relay, sophomore
Emily Mullin (Gouverneur, N.Y./Gouverneur), senior captain
Sophia Frenyea (Johnstown, N.Y./Johnstown), freshman
Katie Nelson (Riverside, R.I./St. Mary's Academy – Bay View) and sophomore
Alexis Hartmann (Farmingville, N.Y./Sachem East) finished ninth with a time of 9:03.36. In the 200 Medley Relay, junior
Kenzie Cerny (Ballston Lake, N.Y./Shenendehowa), Frenyea, Nelson and Mullin were also ninth in 2:00.39.

Daniel Russotti (Webster, N.Y./Webster Thomas), Hitzsche and sophomore
Ryan Orcutt (East Greenbush, N.Y./Columbia) were fifth in 1:37.19.
