CORTLAND, N.Y.—The SUNY Potsdam swimming and diving teams opened their 2025-26 campaigns at SUNY Cortland for the Cortland Relays this afternoon. The host Red Dragons won both the men's and women's titles. Both the Bears men and women finished fourth.

Elliott Borden (Buffalo, N.Y./Amherst), junior
Tyler Schmitt (Deer Park, N.Y./Deer Park), senior captain
Zach DeLorme (Rochester, N.Y./Irondequoit) and senior
Finn Boyle (Lynbrook, N.Y./Lynbrook) finished seventh with a time of 4:12.16. The 200 Freestyle Relay team of freshman
Jackson Korn (Clarence, N.Y./Clarence), DeLorme, freshman
Demetrio Schiavone (Altamont, N.Y./Guilderland) and Schmitt were seventh in 1:43.89. The 3x100 Relay team of Borden, Boyle, and DeLorme were seventh with a time of 3:11.66. In the 3x100 Butterfly Relay, Korn, DeLorme and Schiavone were seventh in 3:10.27. The 3x100 Medley Relay team of Boyle, DeLorme and Borden finished seventh in 3:12.12. In the 200 Medley Relay, Korn, Schmitt, Schiavone and Borden were ninth in 2:04.17.

Leo Plaza (Hudson, N.Y./Taconic Hills) were seventh with a time of 4:55.34. The 200 Freestyle Relay team of freshman
Julie Lamantia (Binghamton, N.Y./Susquehanna Valley), Shoen, Mullen and Steeves were seventh in 2:05.90. The 3x100 Relay team of Lamantia, Plaza and Shoen placed sixth in 3:58.28. Plaza, Mullen and Steeves were fifth in the 3x100 Butterfly with a time of 3:32.71. In the 3x200 Freestyle Relay, Steeves, Mullen and Shoen were seventh in 7:23.64. Shoen, Lamantia, Plaza and Steeves placed eighth in the 400 Freestyle Relay.

The Bears are back in action on November 1, when they travel to Annandale-On-Hudson for a dual meet at Bard College.
