ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, N.Y.—The SUNY Potsdam swimming and diving teams split their opening dual meet at Bard College on Saturday. The Bears women swam to a 102-49 victory, while the men were upended by the Raptors 81-59.

The Bears women picked up two relay wins and five individual wins. Junior
Madison Mitchell (Canton, N.Y./Hugh C. Williams) won the 50 Freestyle with a time of 28.98. Sophomore
Amelia Bohr (Unionville, N.Y./Minisink Valley) finished less than a second behind her in 29.72. Sophomore captain
Katherine Steeves (Kingston, N.Y./Kingston) captured the 100 Butterfly with a time of 1:02.85. Junior
Leo Plaza (Hudson, N.Y./Taconic Hills) won the 100 Backstroke in 1:10.10. Junior
Allie Shoen (Owego, N.Y./Owego) claimed the 500 Freestyle and the 200 Individual Medley in 6:46.85 and 2:56.36, respectively. The latter event was unopposed but earned Potsdam nine important points. Delaynie Jessie (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) and freshman
Emma Montgomery (Winthrop, N.Y./St. Lawrence Central) teamed up to win the 200 Freestyle Relay in 1:57.01. Shoen, Steeves, Plaza and Montgomery also seized the 200 Medley Relay in 2:13.47 unopposed. Jessie also had a second place finish in the 200 Freestyle (2:35.01).

Freshman
Jackson Korn (Clarence, N.Y./Clarence) and senior captain
Zach DeLorme were the standouts for the men. Korn won both the 200 Freestyle (2:05.70) and the 500 Freestyle (5:50.33). Â DeLorme claimed the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 1:12.96.

The Bears are back in action next weekend as they head to Oneonta to take on both host Hartwick College and SUNY Oneonta.
