A 1994 graduate of SUNY Potsdam, Sipher was a two-year member of the women’s varsity basketball team. A transfer from Jefferson Community College and a native of Gouverneur, Sipher tallied 750 points as a starting guard for the Bears, averaging 15 points per game. Sipher also collected 209 rebounds (4.18 per game), 127 assists (2.54 per game) and 113 steals (2.26 per game) while at Potsdam. She was named All-SUNYAC while leading her team to the first women’s conference championship contest in program history as the Bears won the 1994 SUNYAC East Division title.
    
After completing her undergraduate degree at SUNY Potsdam, Amy earned a master’s in counseling and human development from St. Lawrence University. Currently an account manager for Sallie Mae Incorporated, Sipher previously worked for nine years in SUNY Potsdam’s Admissions and Financial Aid offices. She served as assistant varsity girls’ basketball coach at Potsdam Central from 2003-2005 after serving as head coach from 1994-1996. Sipher and her husband, Justin, along with their two children, Camryn and Cody, now reside in Queensbury.
