Hall of Fame
Katherine Forbes, a student athlete at SUNY Potsdam from 1995-1997, was a standout member of the women’s tennis team. She was chosen as the National College Athletic Association (NCAA) Woman of the Year for New York State in 1997. The RPI Invitational tennis singles champion, Forbes advanced to the 1997 State University of Ney York (SUNYAC) semi-finals and was named the Bears’ Most Outstanding Player for the 1996-1997 season.
A member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society and also a MENSA scholarship recipient, Forbes was a 1996 member of SUNYAC’s All-Academic Team, as well as the Commissioner’s List. In 1998 Forbes received the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence.
After receiving her bachelor’s in 1996, Forbes completed a master’s in teaching at Potsdam the following year. In 1997, she became a middle school teacher at St. Lawrence Central School in Brasher Falls.
