A 1995 Potsdam graduate, John Ivery was an All-American goalie on the men’s lacrosse team. Transferring to Potsdam after a stellar JUCO career at Herkimer Community College, Ivery was named championship MVP when Herkimer won the national title in 1992. Prior to his collegiate career, Ivery’s high school accolades included Empire Game Silver and Gold Medals in 1988 and 1989, respectively. He was also a member of West Genesee’s 1990 New York State Championship team.
A captain of the Bears’ 1995 team, Ivery was a two-time first-team All-Empire Lacrosse League honoree. Named SUNY Potsdam team MVP in 1995, Ivery also received All-American recognition his senior year. Currently a sales representative for Cardinal Health, Ivery and his wife, along with their three children, reside in Syracuse.
