McCue, labeled a “coach’s dream” by Bears coach Neil Johnson, continually worked hard on and off the wrestling mat until he received his chance to excel.

As a freshman, McCue didn’t wrestle a single match and it wasn’t until his senior year that he was able to wrestle in his own weight class. But none of that stopped him from reaching for his dreams.

He placed second at the NCAA Division III Tournament in 1975, earning All-American honors. And, because of his work ethic in the classroom, Tom earned the Maxcy-Molnar Award in 1975.

He was a SUNYAC champion and team co-captain in his junior and senior years.

Currently, McCUE lives and works in Lowville, his hometown. He is the full owner of the Stanton-McCue Insurance Agency in Lowville.  Tom had previously worked for the Lewis County Department of Social Services, where he conducted investigations for the NYS Child Abuse Registry. Tom was also the JV wrestling coach for five years at Lowville High.

It is with great pride that Potsdam College inducts Tom McCUE in to the Sports Hall of Fame.
