Hall of Fame
As a freshman in 1964, Paul Kealy was a member of Potsdam’s first wrestling team. During his rookie year, Kealy finished with a dual record of 6-3 and won the team’s Most Match Points Award. The following year, he advanced to a dual record of 7-1 and placed second at the SUNYAC Tournament. As a junior, Kealy compiled a 5-1-1 tally while repeating as a conference tournament runner-up. After taking one year off from college, Kealy returned to go 5-0 in duals as a senior when he ended his college career with a 23-5-2 record. Kealy also played three years of varsity soccer for the Bears and was co-captain of the 1968 team.
After graduating from Potsdam with a mathematics degree in 1969, Paul returned to his hometown of Adams Center. He taught junior high math at South Jefferson Central School while also holding various coaching positions in both the football and wrestling programs. As head wrestling coach, Kealy’s team won the Frontier League Championship in 1970-71. In 1976 Kealy started the pee-wee wrestling program and served as head coach until 1984. He was the modified wrestling coach when he retired in 2003. A member of the Knights of Columbus since 1975, Paul also remains active with pee-wee wrestling.
